Their sauces are just wonderful. I recommend to try Tom Yum flavor which taste original Thai style. Love it!

The Thai spicy sauce was so good. I loved the grilled prawns it so yummy. Server was very nice she always checked on us. We walked in on Saturday at 5:30 PM and there were no other customers. After being offered a sample of all the sauces we ordered a pound of shrimp with basil chili sauce, a skewer of shrimp and another of scallops. To round out the meal we had garlic fried rice and Thai Iced Tea. Everything was excellent!

Be prepared, the name of this place says it all. They place a big sheet of white paper on the table and dump the seafood right in the middle. Even though you get plastic silverware it's pretty much a reach in and grab experience.

We ate until we were full and then ordered the fried banana roll for dessert.

It was so good we kept talking about it the next day. I don't know why this shows 3 $ signs as our total bill without tax and tip was $39. I found this to be pretty reasonable for what we got.

We can't wait until our next Cubs game so we can come back to try the scallops and squid. YUM!

Walked in on a Sunday afternoon and immediately felt welcomed by the friendly staff. My family and I were really excited to try Thai fusion, and this place did not disappoint. The seafood was fresh and we loved trying the squid. Loved the casual vibe, and thought the pricing was very reasonable. Will be back soon!

AMAZING food!!! but so-so service :( We ordered Grilled Squid, 0.5 lbs scallop & 1 lbs clams with Tom-Yum, and 1 lbs while shrimp with Sweet Basil Chili. All seafood is with medium spicy.

Grilled Squid is the best one I had in Chicago. It comes with a strong smoky smell/taste, which I love. The squid itself was tender with a little bit chewiness. It's a perfect app!

As for the seafood, some shrimp was not fresh based on the texture. Clams were way too small while scallops were fine. Also, it may be a cool idea to put all the food on the table; without the bags, the seafood cools down a lot faster and doesn't taste as good to me. Don't order too much so you can finish the food while it is still warm if you prefer it that way.

Server was really nice, but unfortunately service was not good due to communication. Server got me my drink after the third time I asked for it and told us they don't have the crab appetizer when we were wondering why it took so long for them to cook it.

I will definitely go back, but won't order clams and hope the service can get better.

Came in on a beautiful Tuesday evening. Was greeted warmly and seated quickly. There are two ways you could go here - ordering normal Thai food or going with the actual "seafood on the tables" menu. Seafood is priced by the pound - we ordered a pound of the scallops, crawfish, and squid, and got a free pound of the shrimp!! (You can also order clams, mussels, various types of crab and lobster tails.) Prices can feel a bit steep, but are typical of these types of seafood boil places (like Lowcountry). The difference between this place and a place like Lowcountry is the Thai twist this restaurant puts on the seafood boil concept.

There are three sauces, of which we had two - the sweet basil chili and tom yum, both at medium heat. The flavors were strong and really good. We enjoyed the sweet chili the best. The food itself was brought out and poured out onto the table (on top of a large piece of butcher's paper which was used to cover the tabletop). It's best to come if you like eating with your hands! Napkins/paper towel rolls are on all the tables for easy access. We loved the flavors with the scallops and crawfish. The shrimp was good as well. The squid was cooked well, but I'm still on the fence as to whether I liked it paired with the tom yum sauce. We were also given steamed jasmine rice with our food as well, which helped even the strong flavors out.

Ambiance was pretty quiet and the space wasn't too bright, which was nice. Though there was music playing, there weren't many people there either. Only two other customers were there when we came and they left before we were done. The wait staff was generally attentive and filled our waters frequently but left us to ourselves for the most part. Our waiter was helpful but not overbearing.

In the end, had a good time eating here. Am still a bigger fan of southern/cajun style seafood boil flavors, but would come eat here again with others!

This restaurant hasn't done a great job marketing itself yet to the neighborhood - but I hope that turns around soon because more people need to give it a try.

The concept and menu may seem strange, but what is presented and eventually the concept is really outstanding. We were pleasantly surprised and can't wait to go back. The term "seafood on the table" is literal, as they actually pour the seafood directly onto your table. The food was so fresh and the sauces were so flavorful. I highly recommend everyone in this surrounding area to go and try this out. I'm sure the Thai menu is great also, but the seafood was absolutely perfect today. I hope this becomes a very popular spot very quickly.

I would recommend this place to anyone! We didn't know what we were getting ourselves into but it was worth the adventure.
Our first moment of confusion was when we looked at the menu and saw "MP" for the price on the seafood. It stands for market price. They have all different kinds of seafood that you order by the pound. We decided on headless shrimp at $15.99 per pound. We decided on 1 pound total, for my husband and I. The waitress suggested the sweet basil chili sauce. Not knowing what the final product would be, we also ordered corn and potatoes. We asked for the least amount of spiciness.
The waitress asked what we wanted for an appetizer so we got fried calamari. We turned down getting rice (at first).
The waitress then brought us a big piece of white butcher paper for our table top. And plastic bibs! Boy did we need them!
A big bowl of big shrimp (the waitress had told us 22 in a pound) with 2 corn on the cob and potato chunks with lots of sauce was dumped on our table. There was so much sauce we ended up ordering "fried garlic rice" and it was delicious! So was the sauce.
Before a tip the total was $36.45 including tax.
Next time (and I plan on coming back) I will skip the calamari: for $10 you don't get much, and the main meal is sooo good.
I've eaten "food on the table" in Houston at a friends back yard party a couple of times. This is similar but it's Thai flavored instead of Cajun.

This place is yummy and BYOB. We had the squid with the tom yum sauce and the Thai salad. Both were very tasty and well prepared. The only downside is you have to order large portions, if you don't come in a group you won't get to taste everything. Disclaimer: You do eat on a piece of paper with a plastic fork--maybe not the best place for an important date.

Seafood on the Tables was so good -- I had to sign up for Yelp and write my first post EVER to rave about it! I was really happy to see another restaurant take over the former Bistro Dre spot so quickly, and couldn't wait to try it. I read all of the previous reviews before I went here with my family on a Saturday night -- and they were all fantastic (a great sign). So, we were prepared when we walked in and there wasn't anyone else dining in. This is really too bad, because this is hands down some of the best food I have ever had in my seven years living in Chicago. The seafood is so fresh, and the sauces are so flavorful (the sweet basil chili with shrimp, crawfish, potatoes, sausage and corn is super delish -- and the Thai curry with squid and scallops are outstanding) -- I can't wait to go back! Like someone else posted -- try mopping up the extra sauce with garlic fried rice. You won't be disappointed! I really hope more people pick up on their presence, because it is so incredibly worth it!

I love this place! It's across the way from St. Alphonsus. They have a little sign so it's tricky to find.
The first thing I noticed is how clean it is and the dcor is adorable, rustic, nautical.
The giant chalkboard menu has lot's of interesting seafood items to choose from. They also have a Thai menu.
The prices were good. The food was Great! I even took some menu's to give my fellow Chicagoans that haven't heard of this place to give it a try.
I'm surprised there isn't a line around the block.
It's great for dates, parties, friends night out. The service was great too. I can't wait to get back there and try more items... the lobster will be next.
P.S. Get each flavor of the mochi ball ice cream, they're only $2.00 each and really yummy!

Simply amazing food. One of the best meals that I have had in a long time. It's a mix between a seafood shack and a Thai restaurant but better than both. Very fresh seafood cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly. I don't live in Chicago but wish that I did as I would be eating here weekly.

Had not heard of it before a friend told me, but glad he did. The sauces they used for their seafood boil were to die for. My favorite was the Tom Yum, but the Thai Curry was a close second (we got all three). You want to make sure you don't make the classic mistake at these type of restaurants of not ordering enough food. You order by the pound, but remember that shrinks down a lot in cooking. They recommended 3lbs for two people and that turned out to be the perfect amount. Just enough left over to heat up a little the next day to toss with noodles. This is a true, "Mom & Pop" style small business, and I'll be glad to keep supporting them.

Awesome experience and cool atmosphere. Food was good and plenty of it. Good for large groups and hanging out with friends.

If you a seafood person, here is the place for you. Fresh seafoods in Thai style of sauce, such a perfect combination. Recommend try level 3 of spicy, you gonna love it. The decoration is so adore and family friendly.
